How to Host a Dungeon is a solo game where you create a dungeon while following it through it's history by creating a map.  This is a tabletop game, using pen and paper.

In this game you will create a unique world with randomly-generated features and resources like underground rivers, valuable ores, and mysterious caverns. Your world will be shaped by civilizations, settlements, and monsters, as they dig dungeons, expand their lairs, gather treasure, and fight for survival.

The game uses randomness and procedural generation to create a history that can include adventurers, battles, alliances, epic treasures, and world-conquering villains.

This expanded second edition includes more monsters and more interactions between monsters, more civilizations, and an expanded world to play in.

When you finish, you'll have a complete dungeon map for a world that you created.

NOTE: Sadly, I cannot currently produce and ship monster and civilization cards, as my POD provider is closed during the pendemic.

First finished dungeon, using the Demon civilization. Ended up with a lot of juicy twists, with the last Demon almost getting wiped out by an order of knights, if not for a crime syndicate and an adventurer party going to war with each other and littering the dungeon with loot the fiend was able to grab to finance their unholy empire.

I had some duds after this playthrough where things didn't work out as well as here, but when it clicks this game is absolutely wonderful.

The Free Version, the Primordial Age says to roll 1d8 for each stratum "ignoring the surface
and any stratum with a nexus in it"
...

And that's the only instance of the word "nexus" in the PDF. Google/Internet is no help either... what is a nexus, and how do they get on strata? There's really not much before that page, so I'm curious if there's just a missed stage.

From what I can see a Nexus is a unique dungeon feature that's a rule in the full version - that had me confused at first too

When will community copies be a thing? I wanna see the full version so I can tell you what is good about it.

I wanna help you grow

I don't seem to see an option for the paid version...is there a way to buy it through itch.io so you could (presumably) get a better cut of the purchase??

Just got it off your Etsy page in the meantime!

Hey, have some question about page 2, Feature table. There is 1d8 roll, but the table contains only 6 options. What does it mean?

(+1)

/me blushes. Oops, that's clearly a copy writing error. OK, something for me to fix and post. Thanks for spotting it.

Although I'm tempted to add two more things now, just because...

...and?

Hi, any update on this?
It's still only 6 options haha

First version was great. I'm sure I'll enjoy this one too. :P

Thanks! Let me know what you think of the changes

The original version of this was important and delightful and I am so goddamn excited to play this version.

Yes! Will you post your drawings?

I don't have easy access to the old drawings but I will share new drawings as I make them.
